John Donovan, Chief Strategy Officer and Group President —AT&T Technology and Operations (ATO), is responsible for the corporate strategy function, technology development, network deployment and operations, and AT&T’s transition to a software-defined network. John is driving AT&T’s global leadership position in the technological transition to separate hardware and software and virtualizing network elements to the cloud. His responsibilities also include oversight of the company’s global information, software development, network technology, and big data strategy; AT&T Intellectual Property, Labs and Foundry innovation; IT and digital planning, engineering, implementation and operations; network planning, construction and operations including security; field operations, installation and maintenance; global supply chain; and corporate fleet operations. John previously served as Chief Technology Officer for AT&T, overseeing the company's global technology direction and innovation road map, including product development, network and engineering operations, AT&T Labs and the security and intellectual property organizations. Under John's leadership, AT&T has turbo-charged its innovation programs and now is recognized as an industry leader in working with application developers and others to make AT&T's network open to collaboration and innovation. John previously was executive vice president of product, sales, marketing and operations at VeriSign Inc., a technology company that provides Internet infrastructure services. At VeriSign, John was responsible for leading its global sales organization, driving the expansion of broad solutions offerings, and integrating a global professional services capability. Before that, he was chairman and CEO of inCode Telecom Group Inc., where he helped shape strategic direction and positioning for wireless network operators around the globe. Previously, John was a partner with Deloitte Consulting, where he was the Americas Industry Practice director for telecom. John serves on the Board of Directors for Palo Alto Networks. He has authored two books, The Value Enterprise, published in January 1998, and Value Creating Growth, published in 1999. John received a B.S.E.E. from the University of Notre Dame and earned an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Minnesota.

Peter Levine is a partner at the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. He was previously senior vice president and general manager of the Data Center and Cloud Division at Citrix where he was responsible for revenue, product management, business development and strategic direction. Peter joined Citrix in 2007 through its $500 million acquisition of XenSource, the leading provider of enterprise-class open source virtualization software, where he served as CEO, leading its 600 employees and establishing strategic agreements for the XenServer product family with customers such as Microsoft, Symantec, HP, NEC and Dell.   Prior to XenSource, Peter was a general partner at the Mayfield Fund. Before Mayfield, he was an early employee of VERITAS Software. During his 11-year tenure with the company, he helped to grow the organization to over 5,000 employees and more than $1.5 billion in revenue. Peter served as executive vice president and was responsible for worldwide marketing, OEM sales, business development and several product divisions. He began his career as a software engineer at Spectrum Software and was later a software engineer at MIT’s Project Athena.   Peter holds a B.S. in Engineering from Boston University and attended the Sloan School of Management at MIT. He is currently a management lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a former entrepreneurship lecturer at the Sloan School. Peter serves on the board of many companies including Actifio, Cyanogen, GitHub, Mesosphere, and Mixpanel, and is also on the board of trustees for Boston University and the National Outdoor Leadership Schoool (NOLS), and the Dean’s Advisory board for MIT Engineering. Jigar Desai

Jigar Desai is VP of cloud and platforms at PayPal where he leads his team of technologists that built one of the largest private clouds based on OpenStack powering all PayPal transactions. In this capacity, Jigar also oversees internal developer frameworks, application security and engineering environments. He is really fascinated about new technology trends like SDN/NFV, containers and Docker to solve real life business problems. Jigar and team constantly innovate to keep PayPal’s massive distributed systems environment up and running to process millions of payments per day. Before joining PayPal, Jigar helped a massive technology transformation at eBay by migrating out of legacy proprietary technology to open source platforms that increase developer productivity multifold. Besides having strong infrastructure and platform background, Jigar also worked on several ecommerce applications that power more than 500 million listings on eBay’s website. Before eBay, he spent several years as an engineer building rule based engine for enterprise applications.

Omar Baldonado

Omar Baldonado is part of Facebook’s networking software team, responsible for large-scale software systems that model, automate, monitor, and control Facebook’s network. The network domains include Facebook’s data centers; global transport and IP backbones; edge points-of-presence; and Connectivity Labs initiatives. The team also works on open networking systems, driving a set of disaggregated and fully open network hardware and software through the Open Compute Project (OCP) and projects such as FBOSS. A veteran of multiple startups, Omar has been developing networking software for over 20 years. He is the co-lead of the OCP networking project and on the board of the Open Networking Foundation (ONF).

Heather oversees and provides guidance for all aspects of the project, from technology to community and marketing and reports to the OPNFV board of directors. Previously, she led strategic technology alliances for MongoDB and held various leadership positions in the telecom industry including Alcatel-Lucent, Broadband Forum, BroadbandHome, Small Cell Forum, UPnP Forum, Home Gateway Initiative, and other groups. Heather received her master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Texas, Austin. She lives in the Dog Patch neighborhood of San Francisco, CA and enjoys electronica music, sci-fi movies, and camping in hostile environments.

Ihab Tarazi

As Chief Technology Officer, Ihab Tarazi is responsible for Equinix International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) network operations, platform strategy, leading the next generation technology and innovation function and contributing to the company's cloud initiatives. He joined Equinix in 2013 from Verizon, where he was Vice President of Enterprise Network Services. There, he was responsible for product management, strategy, technology and development for Verizon network products. During his tenure at Verizon, Mr. Tarazi led planning and technology development for Verizon’s global IP network connecting customers in over 150 countries. He also led the design and development of next-generation optical and submarine cable systems driving many industry innovations in 100G optical technology globally.

Neela Jacques
OpenDaylight/The Linux Foundation

As OpenDaylight’s executive director, Nicolas “Neela” Jacques works with the OpenDaylight community to advance SDN and NFV with a developer-driven open source platform for products and technologies that expand the intelligence, programmability and performance of network infrastructures. He oversees and provides guidance for all aspects of the project, from governance and technology to community and marketing and reports to the OpenDaylight board of directors. Formerly at VMware, Jacques was part of the core team that took virtualization from a niche development and testing product to ubiquitous use. He developed and took to market the company’s software-defined data center vision and strategy including VMware’s vCloud Suite. Jacques also founded and launched VMware’s first cloud computing initiative in 2007. Prior to VMware, Jacques was a consultant with Bain & Company. He received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with High Honors and a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University.
