Read what past Apache: Big Data and ApacheCon attendees have to say about their experiences!
Being at ApacheCon gives us a great opportunity to learn how ASF really works, get a better understanding of different ASF projects and socialize with the fellow developers.
- Sergey Beryozkin, Software Architect, Talend
ApacheCon gave me the opportunity to discuss my technical interest with great folks. It motivates me a lot to work with the Apache community.
- Akihiro Suda, Software Engineer, NTT Corporation
We all get stuck in a professional bubble, using the same tools, solvin the same problems, over and over. ApacheCon was a great opportunity to look outside this bubble. Lots of fun and really ramped up my excitement.
- Greg Fullard, Solution Architect, 8 Bit Platoon
Great opportunity to connect with the foundational architects of the internet and help design the building blocks of its future.
- Steve Lerner, Director/Architect - Performance Engineering, eBay
Apache Big Data connects you with the community behind today's Big Data innovations in a way other conferences do not. You have the opportunity to hear and ask questions of leaders such as Doug Cutting while being able to interact and connect directly with committers on your favorite projects. Another thing I love about this conference is that it is as technical as you want it to be and that much less vendor focused than typical conferences.
- Martin Serrano, Chief Architect, Attivio, Inc.
ApacheCon is a great place to meet folks running the gamut from potential users of Apache projects, to contributors on other projects, to people on the porject you usually only interact with online. As an example, this connector between Apache Zeppelin and Apache Mahout.
- Andrew Musselman, Chief Data Scientist, Accenture
I have been a long avid user of Apache Software products but this was my first time attending ApacheCon. It was a great experience to learn what's going on with the latest open source projects but witnessing the great community Apache Software Foundation is building around those projects was an eye-opening moment for me.
- John Park, IT Specialist - Office of Research Information Services, Office of the CIO, Smithsonian Institution
If data is your chocolate and open source is your peanut butter, then Apache: Big Data is a must-attend Reese's event for data geeks. This is where I go when I want to learn firsthand from technologists how they're solving today's big data/IoT challenges with Apache projects.
- Tamara Dull, Director of Emerging Technologies, SAS
ApacheCon was a wonderful opportunity to share the project we contribute to (Apache Mesos) and how our customers are using it, as well as a way to learn about the plethora of other Apache projects. I really enjoyed talking to fellow attendees who are both passionate about open source and subject matter experts in a variety of areas.
- Sunil Shah, Engineering & Product Manager, Mesosphere
Apache Big Data 2016 in Vancouver was very well organized...lots of interesting talks covering a good variety of Apache projects and technical use cases.
- Dmitriy Setrakyan, CTO, GridGain
Not only is ApacheCon the best place to learn about the many different projects and technologies available to the open source community, it is also a great place to meet their communities and become more involved.
- Marcel Offermans, Director at Luminis Technologies
ApacheCon 2016 had an interesting mix of very good Open Source based content blended with industry's technological challenges and solutions. As a software engineer and as well as an Apache committer I fully enjoyed the conference.
- Bogdan Pistol
It's great to meet all those enthusiasts working to promote public good through software! We did travel with several colleagues from Manex all the way from Belguim!...Shows our motivation, doesn't it? Keep up the good work!
- Vincent Keunen, CEO, Manex
ApacheCon is a great place to learn about existing and emerging Apache projects, each of which has the potential to improve your organization.
- Mike Fanning, Software Engineer, Able Engineering
Great event to learn about new gems coming out of Apache projects. On top of that - loved the opportunity to hang out with committers!
- Dzmitry Pletnikau, Software Engineer, Unicity
Informative and fun! Everyone at Apache are great people, so don't miss out on another great conference.
- Matt Sicker, Software Engineer, Peapod
ApacheCon is where I learned to be a leader in open source.
- Marvin Humphrey, Apache Board of Directors and Software Engineer, CBS Local
